What Are the First Sessions Like?
The first couples therapy session lasts 60 minutes and focuses on gaining a comprehensive understanding of your relationship. Together, we explore the concerns that brought you to therapy, your relationship history, communication styles, emotional and sexual connection, strengths, challenges, and goals for the future.
Following the initial session, each partner completes an individual assessment. The second phase of the evaluation consists of an individual 45-minute session with each partner, allowing the therapist to gain a deeper understanding of each person's perspective and experiences.

Couples therapy is a collaborative process in which both partners work together toward shared goals. Transparency is an essential part of treatment, and the therapeutic process is designed to ensure that both partners participate openly and actively.

Most couples who engage in English couples therapy at MindPlace attend between 10 and 14 sessions, although the exact duration depends on the nature of the concerns being addressed and the level of engagement both partners bring to the process.
The most significant progress typically occurs when couples actively practice the skills learned in therapy both during and between sessions.
